Pete and Tommy and families,
We were sorry to hear about RV's passing. He was fortunate to live a long and prosperous life. I enjoyed getting to work with RV and getting to know him over the years. The devotion to your Mother was admirable which speaks of his love and devotion for her. I will miss the lunches at the Poinsett Club and his ever present negotiations. Our family will keep you all in our prayers.
With sincere condolences,

I am the oldest granddaughter of Oscar Henry Garrison, Jr. and daughter of Brenda Garrison Hayes. Oscar's mother was known as "Mama Ruth" who was a Chandler & married Oscar Garrison Senior. The Garrison's family land is off of Sandy Springs Road behind the Donaldson Center & towards downtown Simpsonville, where Mama Ruth & Oscar Garrison Senior moved to & opened 2 grocery stores. My grandfather was only a teenager when his father died, leaving Mama Ruth with 5 children & my grandfather as the only son. It was R.V. Chandler Senior who helped their family. And, this made him a hero in my eyes. I grew up hearing stories about R.V. Chandler & the friendships between his family & the Garrison family. It is the hertiage of these wonderful families that make me proud to be a native of Greenville and to come from a line of men & women of integrity. How much I hope to pass along the values of the generation of R.V. Chandler & Oscar Henry Garrison to my children. I can only imagine that R.V. Chandler Jr. was just like his father. I share with you in celebrating his life.
